Why ByJazz

I have been fascinated by music for as long as I can remember. I started learning the guitar as a teenager, and have come back to it over and over again ever since.

Amongst the many different styles of western music, Jazz has that special combination of characteristics: it emphasizes improvisation, while also demanding technical excellence and a deep understanding of music from its players.

I chose the ByJazz name as an analogy between Jazz bands and high performing agile teams.

Similar to a great Jazz band improvising, a great team will know, understand and respect each team member's strength and weaknesses. They will self organize in order to generate the most value relying on that knowledge. And when push comes to shove, they will improvise together in order to find a solution to the problem at hand.

In short then, both are examples of multi-disciplinary groups of people technically on point and capable of improvising when the need arrises.
